A newly constructed Macy’s store will open its doors this Saturday at the Westfield South Shore Mall in Bay Shore, marking a milestone in the mall’s larger $80 million renovation.

The new 200,000-sqaure-foot building is the first new Macy’s to be built on Long Island in more than 40 years, according to the mall’s owner, Sydney, Australia-based Westfield Group. The old Macy’s building was demolished last year.

The mall also will feature a new mix of tenants. Michael Kors, White House|Black Market, Soma and Sephora are among the stores opening over the next year. The mall will hold several family events on Saturday, including face painting, balloon artists and live entertainment. The official Macy’s ribbon cutting will take place next Wednesday,  Aug. 28.
