New report says Madoff was beaten in prison

Another report has surfaced saying convicted swindler Bernard Madoff was beaten in December by another inmate in the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in North Carolina.
The Wall Street Journal is citing three sources in its report Thursday that Madoff, who is serving a 150-year sentence, was assaulted by another inmate in mid December.
After the attack, the Journal said, Madoff was moved to the prison's low-security medical center for treatment. At the time, the Bureau of Prisons said that rumors of an assault were false and that Mr. Madoff suffered from dizziness and hypertension.
The Journal said lawyer Ira Sorkin declined to comment Wednesday on whether his client was beaten, saying, "I don't comment on prison conditions or his family. That has been my policy."
According to the Journal's sources, Madoff was treated for a broken nose, fractured ribs and cuts to his head and face. The details of the injuries couldn't be independently verified, the Journal said.
