A ferry terminal in Glen Cove, improvements to Riverhead's downtown sewage treatment plant, expansion of the Hampton Jitney and job training for homemakers are among about 175 local projects that failed to win state aid last year.

Seventy projects shared more than $100 million in state tax credits and grants announced in December by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo under a new competition. He established regional economic development councils that scored each project, along with state officials. Twenty percent of the grade came from the regional council and 80 percent from Albany.

Empire State Development Corp. recently established a website where residents can find out which projects received support and their grade in the contest.

The highest score, 99.20 points, went to the Wyandanch Rising urban renewal project, which received $6 million. The lowest score among those getting money was Vision Quest Lighting, which won $600,000 in tax credits with a score of 36.4.
