In yet another bad sign for the print industry, New York Magazine announced Monday it will decrease its publishing to biweekly.

New York Media will go from publishing 42 issues annually to 30 in 2014, and 29 every year after that. The changes take effect in March.

In a statement, the company said each issue will have roughly 20 percent more content, including more visuals, a revamped fashion section called The Cut, and new columnists.

At the same time, the company said it will grow its digital content. "New York [Magazine] has evolved dramatically since its founding in 1968, with its intelligence, humor, playfulness, and visual punch remaining constants," editor-in-chief Adam Moss said in a statement.

"Readers will continue to find what they love in the magazine, and we're undertaking these new changes to meet their changing media habits on all platforms," he said.

The company did not address any financial reasons for its print publishing cuts in the statement.

Nymag.com will have a new science blog, more photographs and coverage of photography, and expanded coverage of fashion and culture, according to the company.
