New York State has launched a website for its free mentoring service for small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Businessmentor.ny.gov is designed to ease the process of participating in the program. People can use the site to register, review the profiles of mentors and communicate with them.
"Helping small business owners overcome obstacles and achieve greater success will in turn strengthen local economies and spur job creation," said Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.
The mentoring program, announced in January, is an extension of help provided to victims of superstorm Sandy and other recent natural disasters.
The program is administered by Empire State Development, the state's primary business-aid agency, and is funded in part through federal money awarded to New York State after Sandy. The program was developed with MicroMentor, an initiative of Oregon-based Mercy Corps, a not-for-profit with charitable endeavors around the world.
