Northrop Grumman lands $4.2 million contract

Northrop Grumman Corp.’s Bethpage unit is being awarded as much as $4.2 million in a fixed price contract to deliver 12 AN/SPQ-9B radar systems that allow U.S. Navy ships to detect and track low-flying anti-ship missiles, the Department of Defense announced.
Though the contract, worth as much as $83.9 million, was awarded to the Bethpage unit, 95 percent of the work will be done in Baltimore, according to the Department of Defense.
The contract, which combines purchases for the U.S. Navy (84 percent) and Japan’s military (16 percent) is expected to be completed by August 2019.
The radar system is designed to track multiple targets while communicating with onboard weapons systems.
