NPD Group buys mobile-tech market research company

The NPD Group, a market research company based in Port Washington, has closed on its purchase of an Arizona firm that specializes in analysis of the mobile and digital entertainment industries.
NPD did not say how much it paid for In-Stat, which is based in Scottsdale, Ariz., and which has offices and sales representatives in Massachusetts, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
Clients include technology vendors, equipment manufacturers, service providers and media companies.
"In-Stat will operate in conjunction with DisplaySearch, an NPD Group company, to provide global technology analysis and information for a growing client base," NPD said in a Friday news release.
