NPD Group buys NJ sales data company
The Port Washington market research company NPD Group has bought a New Jersey company that specializes in jewelry store retail sales information.
NPD did not disclose the terms of the deal to acquire LGI Network, of Randolph, N.J.
It described LGI’s data collection as “retail point-of-sale information on fine watches and branded jewelry.”
NPD, on its own, had already been in the business of tracking sales of fashion watches and other acessories. Now, the combined sales data will help NPD provide “the industry’s first holistic view of the watches and jewelry marketplace,” NPD said in a Thursday news release.
While LGI mostly collects information from specialty and independent stores, NPD’s expertise had been department stores.
