Nu Horizons to distribute for Lattice Semiconductor

A month after it lost a key supplier, Melville-based Nu Horizons Electronics Corp. has rebounded with a new distribution agreement. It will be a global distributor for Lattice Semiconductor, an Oregon-based maker of programmable computer chips.

"Nu Horizons Electronics is very excited to expand globally with Lattice," said Kent Smith, president of its global distribution division. "Lattice is an ideal match, enabling us to provide innovative product choices for our customers in every region."

Nu Horizons is a global distributor of semiconductors and other technology, with 54 sales offices in North America, Europe and Asia.

Its share price fell 25 percent in a single day - on March 2, when it announced the loss of its key supplier Xilinx Inc. of San Jose, Calif.

Xilinx merchandise had provided Nu Horizons with nearly one-third of its annual sales, which were about $180 million in the quarter ended Nov. 30.
