Local businesses owners can learn about contracting opportunities with the offshore wind farms proposed for Long Island’s south shore at a forum on Wednesday, officials said.

Wind farm developers Orsted and Eversource are hosting “a supply chain forum” between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the Long Island Marriott hotel, 101 James Doolittle Blvd. in Uniondale. Participants will hear about the Sunrise Wind project to be located more than 30 miles off Montauk Point. It will generate 924 megawatts of electricity to supply more than 600,000 homes.

Sunrise Wind is scheduled to open in 2025. The event will include presentations by Doreen Harris, CEO of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority; Orsted and Eversource executives, and representatives of the prime contractors such as Siemens, AKER, Edison Chouset, LS Cable, Haugland Group and MAERSK Training.

Another forum will be held in April in Suffolk County, a company spokeswoman said.
