A Hauppauge industrial building long used by Olympus America Inc. has been put on the market by the property's owner, Brentwood-based Elm Global Logistics, for $12.4 million.

Olympus will be closing the facility in spring of next year. A company spokesman said Tuesday the move out of Long Island will allow the company to "optimize operations and reduce costs." No information was immediately available on how many employees will be affected.

The 105,253-square-foot building at 400 Rabro Dr. E. has been the site of a returns center for Olympus America since 2001. The company, a division of Japanese camera maker Olympus Corp., moved its headquarters from Melville to Center Valley, Pennsylvania, in 2006.

"With hard work we're going to sell it right away," said Richard Cohen of Ashlind Properties, the brokerage representing Elm Global. "We're getting a lot of people to see the property."
