In the latest of three contracts announced so far this month with a combined value of more than $3 million, Hauppauge-based Orbit International Corp. on Tuesday said it has received an order for oil and gas industry power supplies.

In announcing a previous contract on Jan. 20, the company said its electronics group got a foreign military defense contract valued at more than $1 million to design a display tablet for a Chinook helicopter upgrade program.

In another contract announced on Jan. 12, Orbit said its electronics group got a follow-on order valued at more than $1.7 million for remote control units to support the common transponder program requirements of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army.

For Tuesday's oil and gas industry contract, Orbit said its subsidiary Behlman Electronics Inc. stands to make as much as $400,000 this year producing oil and gas industry power supplies, which provide the voltage necessary to operate machinery. The devices, which could bring several years of additional revenue, are also being marketed abroad including the European community.

"The significance of this order is not in its dollar value; rather it provides a new product that enables us to further penetrate the oil and gas services industry," said Orbit chief executive Dennis Sunshine.

"With this initial production contract, Behlman is now supplying state-of-the-art power units for two of the largest global oil and gas service companies."

Orbit International Corp. is involved in the manufacture of customized electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications through its production facilities in Hauppauge and in Quakertown, Pa.
