OSHA: Make it a safe recovery
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is reminding recovery workers and the public who are cleaning up after superstorm Sandy to protect themselves from hazards.
Some of the hazards include downed electrical wires, high water and exposure to contaminated water or food. People should evaluate work areas for hazards and wear protective equipment, OSHA says.
“Recovery work should not put you in the recovery room,” said Robert Kulick, OSHA’s regional administrator for New York.
