P&G says Haiti aid tops $2 million

(AP) — Consumer products maker Procter & Gamble Co. says its donations to Haitian earthquake relief have topped $2 million total in cash, water-treatment packets and supplies from batteries to diapers to shampoo.

The Cincinnati-based company, whose products include Crest toothpaste and Pampers diapers, began shipping Pur water-treatment packets to the Caribbean nation soon after the Jan. 12 earthquake. It says it will provide a total 6 million packets, enough to treat 60 million liters of contaminated water.

P&G said Thursday it expects to increase product and cash donations, which include employee and retiree gifts, in coming weeks. P&G plans to donate profits from sales of Tide detergent vintage T-shirts and take its mobile laundry service to Haiti.
