Pall Corp., the Port Washington filtration maker, has won a $14-million contract to supply filter systems for 59 U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook helicopters.
Pall's Centrisep system keeps dust and sand from inlet air, preventing damage to the Boeing copter's engines. Pall will begin shipping systems in December.
The Chinook filtration system helps the helicopters fulfill combat missions such as "the movement of troops, artillery, ammunition, fuel, water, supplies and equipment," Pall said, adding it was also used for disaster relief, medical evacuations and more.
Pall said Centrisep prolongs the life of the Chinook engines. Pall also supplies hydraulic, transmission, engine lubrication, and fuel filtration systems for the Chinook.
