Park Electrochemical promotes Mastrogiacomo to president

Park Electrochemical Corp. has promoted Christopher T. Mastrogiacomo to president, the company announced Tuesday.

Mastrogiacomo will report to CEO Brian Shore, who has held the titles of president and chief executive since 1996.

Shore will continue to serve as chief executive and chairman of the board at Melville-based Park.

In June 2011, Mastrogiacomo became chief operating officer of Park, a title he will retain, and executive vice president.

He joined Park, a manufacturer of printed circuit materials for the telecommunications market and composite materials for aerospace companies, as vice president of strategic marketing in September 2010.

Before joining Park, Mastrogiacomo served as a manager with Sanmina-SCI Corp., an electronics contract manufacturer.

Last week, Park's board of directors amended the company's bylaws to eliminate the requirement that the president sit on the board, according to a government filing.

On July 1, Park posted a 67.3 percent increase in first quarter profit to $8.6 million, reversing a net loss in the fourth quarter. In a conference call, Shore disclosed that the company is supplying composite material to GE Aviation as part of its small but growing aerospace business.

Shares of Park were up 13 cents at $28.79 in midmorning trading Wednesday.
