Party House opening in former Party City in Patchogue

Woodbury-based party supply store Party House is opening a second location, owner Emir Ozmutlu confirmed Wednesday.

The new store at 120 Sunrise Hwy. in Patchogue will be the second Party House on Long Island and its first in Suffolk County. Party House is planning a soft opening in Patchogue on Monday, Ozmutlu said.  

Property records confirm the Patchogue and Woodbury locations were formerly Party City stores — a strategy Ozmutlu employed on purpose. The national chain filed for bankruptcy in 2024.

"It is a marketing strategy," Ozmutlu, 35, said in a phone interview. "It's because everybody already knows that there is a party store."

Party House is unrelated to Party City, Ozmutlu confirmed.

Ozmutlu, of Syosset, identified himself as an entrepreneur. He wanted to open a party store as an investment, he said, and party stores draw happy people with positive energy.

"We all love balloons, we all love parties and we all love any celebration," Ozmutlu said. 

Having opened a Nassau County location first, Ozmutlu wanted a store in Suffolk. He looked into the Patchogue Party City location's sales numbers and saw that there was a market for a party store in the area, he said. 

Allen Boulos and Matthew Sullivan, of Hauppauge-based Evernest Realty Inc., represented both Ozmutlu and the landlord in the Patchogue deal, Boulos said.

"We just were able to talk with the landlord, find out the best use would essentially be the same thing," Boulos said in a Wednesday phone interview.

The landlord was familiar with Party House, Boulos said, and wanted to connect with Ozmutlu. Boulos said he anticipates the store to be similar to its predecessor. 

"It's like you'll be walking into a Party City, but it's Party House now," Boulos said.

The space does not need much built out, Boulos said, because it will serve the same purpose. 

"Opening our second location is an important milestone, and we are grateful for the support we have received from customers throughout Long Island," Ozmutlu added in a written statement. "We are also planning to open a third Party House location in 2027 and hope to continue expanding across Long Island as opportunities become available."

Party House announced its Woodbury opening on Instagram in August 2025, identifying itself as, "Your one-stop shop for all things PARTY." A separate post from later that month lists offerings like balloon arches and garlands, number and letter balloons, piñatas and Halloween costumes.
