Patents and trademarks will be the topic of Tuesday night's meeting of the Suffolk County Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club.

Will Salas of the Patent and Trademark Resource Center, based at the Smithtown Library, will discuss how inventors can protect their ideas. The center, located in the library's main building, is one of five in New York State and part of a program from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington.

The inventors' meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the media room of the H. Lee Dennison Building, 100 Veterans Hwy. in Hauppauge.

The event is free but valid identification is required.
