BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Sharon Kovacs Gruer, a Great Neck resident, was elected chair of the elder law section of the New York State Bar Association. She has her own law firm in Great Neck.

Mickee Hennessy, a partner at the Uniondale commercial law firm of Westerman Ball Ederer Miller & Sharfstein, has been appointed vice chair of the bankruptcy committee for the Nassau County Bar Association. She lives in St. James.

Kenneth Gehringer has been elected vice president for the Northeast region of the Construction Specifications Institute, a national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documents and project delivery. The East Islip resident is a senior project architect in the private sector division of H2M Group in Melville.

Linda Green has joined the board of directors at the Science Museum of Long Island, a not-for-profit educational group in Manhasset. The Port Washington resident is principal of the Lynn Gross Discovery School in Rego Park.

 FINANCE
Christopher Pratt has been promoted to wealth adviser in the investment group at M&T Bank in Melville. The Bellmore resident was a financial consultant at the company.

Sharon Hamlin has joined TD Bank as manager of its East Meadow location. The Babylon resident was a branch manager at JP Morgan Chase.

 HEALTH CARE 
Dr. Alan Wong has been appointed chief of critical care at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. The Syosset resident was an intensivist at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

 LAW
Carly Wiskoff has joined the litigation practice group on the East Meadow firm of Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman as an associate. The Queens resident was a legal assistant at Federal Defenders of New York in Manhattan.

Robert Guido has joined the Garden City firm of Jaspan Schlesinger in an of counsel capacity. The Huntington Bay resident was senior real estate counsel at Renaissance Property Associates in Plainview.

 NONPROFITS
John Chicherio has joined the Huntington Arts Council as performing arts director. He was associate director at Friends of the Arts in Oyster Bay. Chicherio lives in Cold Spring Harbor

RELIGION
Deborah Carioto has been named congregation operations administrator at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock in Manhasset. The Setauket resident was president and chief operations officer at the American Lung Association of New York.

SENIOR LIVING
Nina Gordon has been named engage life director at Atria Cutter Mill in Great Neck. The Oakland Gardens resident held a similar position at Sterling Glen of Roslyn.

 UTILITIES
Jeffrey Szabo has been appointed chief executive at the Suffolk County Water Authority. The Babylon resident was special projects coordinator prior to his promotion.
