Port Wash. market data exec is a hall-of-famer

Tod Johnson, chairman and chief executive the NPD Group, of Port Washington, has been inducted into the Market Research Council Hall of Fame.
Johnson was chosen as this year's Current Practitioner honoree. Hall of Fame members include marketing, media and survey research professionals.
"Considered an expert in his field for more than 30 years, he is a frequent speaker at market research and management conferences and has been widely published in research-oriented publications," the council said in a news release.
"His expertise is in the areas of brand loyalty and brand equity. Under his leadership, NPD received seven market research methods patents covering in-home scanning, internet audience measurement, online sample intercepts, and more."
Johnson, who has led NPD and its predecessors since the early 1970s, is a life trustee at Carnegie Mellon University, his alma mater.
