A Port Washington-based sales trainer, inspired by an unusual business-model idea from the Panera Bread Company, has made a special offer to new customers this summer: you set the price — based on how valuable you find her expertise.

Adrian Miller, the sales trainer, is offering sales training to any business in New York and "asks she be paid for only what her clients think her services are worth."

Miller said she was intrigued by Panera's approach at one of its Missouri cafes (run by a not-for-profit) where the motto is displayed: "Take what you need, leave your fair share." The café has a suggested price but customers may pay less - or more.

In a news release, Miller says she "will adopt a similar sales strategy through the summer, for the months of June, July, and August.

Her Website is adrianmiller.com. She works with both for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises.
