Valley’s best and brightest recognized at 14th annual event

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (PRWEB) April 25, 2018

ACG Silicon Valley celebrated the 2018 GROW! Awards at a sold-out ceremony held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California on April 24, 2018, recognizing Dell Technologies, the world’s largest privately-controlled technology company, and Box, a leader in cloud content management.

Each year the GROW! Awards honor two of the fastest-growing companies in Silicon Valley. This year, Dell Technologies received the GROW! Award for Outstanding Growth Company, and Box won the GROW! Award for Emerging Growth Company.

ACG SIlicon Valley CEO Drue Freeman served as the master of ceremonies and presented a surprise award to former ACGSV CEO Sally Pera for her contributions to the organization and the broader community. Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware, presented the keynote address focused on the industry’s responsibility in developing technology as a force for good and the growing technological “superpowers” at our disposal. Dr. Karen Sobel Lojeski, founder and CEO of Virtual Distance International (VDI), issued a missive on the disconnect that occurs when human beings rely heavily on smart, digital devices to communicate and how the influence of the leaders assembled at the GROW! Awards can help shape awareness and solutions for the psychological consequences of modern communication technology.

This year’s awards ceremony was also a celebration of the art and science of innovation and featured a roundtable with young entrepreneurs and student leaders Dolan Dworak and Mallika Jain. Whipsaw CEO Dan Harden introduced two brand-new product designs during the Coolest Products Raffle. Proceeds from the raffle benefited the San Jose Museum of Art (SJMA), the largest provider of arts education in Santa Clara County. SJMA offers education programs that benefit nearly 50,000 students annually, the majority of whom would not have otherwise had an art program available to them.

“Technology is changing every aspect of our lives – healthcare, how we work and play, how we drive, and how we interact as human beings,” said Freeman. “At the same time, corporations are starting to re-evaluate their implicit contracts with academia, government, and society at large. Silicon Valley is at the tip of the spear of all of this change. ACG Silicon Valley is one of the premier thought leadership platforms for corporate executives to come together as change agents and create a positive impact on their businesses and in the community. The Grow! Awards is a celebration of this change.”

ACG Silicon Valley, which is the Silicon Valley chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, chose the winners in each category to reflect the best qualities of Silicon Valley’s many fine companies. In addition to outstanding financial performance, candidates had to show a sustainable record of innovation, corporate value-building and social involvement. In these challenging times, the expectation of candidates’ continued roles as mainstays of the Silicon Valley community is paramount.
