Ella Rhoads Higginson bust is currently being created at Big Statues in Provo, Utah and is to be placed on Western Washington University's Campus for students to remember and honor her legacy.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (PRWEB) June 06, 2018

Thanks to a highly successful fundraising campaign, Dr. Laura Laffrado of Western Washington University has commissioned renowned artist Matt Glenn and his company Big Statues to create a bronze bust to honor celebrated Pacific Northwest author Ella Rhoads Higginson. Higginson wrote poetry, fiction, and essays throughout her writing career, starting when she was fourteen years old. She won many awards during her time as a writer and editor, of which the greatest was when she was named the poet Laureate of Washington State in 1931. Higginson deserves to be honored for her legacy, especially in the Pacific Northwest, and this bronze bust is going to do just that.

The project is now in the works thanks to the many faculty, students, and Western Washington University community who donated to the fundraising for this statue. The finished statue, which is to be completed in the next 6 months, will be located on the University’s Campus in the Wilson Library Reading Room for all of students to enjoy and honor Higginson’s legacy.
