Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship, Milford, Ohio finalizes the details of the 30th Anniversary Gala to be held at the Peterloon Estate, Indian Hill, on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016

The Gala will be held at the Peterloon Estate in Indian Hill, a suburb of Cincinnati. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by The Sorry Charlie Band, a local group who has entertained crowds for 30+ years, specializing in all types of music with classic rock being their specialty.

Food for the evening will be provided by Lehr’s Prime in Milford, Ohio and businesses all across the tristate have donated items for their silent auction and for the raffles that will happen throughout the night.

CTRH has helped thousands of people with disabilities ranging in age from 2 years to 70 years old live fuller and richer lives as they learn how to ride, manage and care for horses. “Awareness of the benefits of equine therapy just keeps growing,” says Executive Director Rob Seideman. “When CTRH began in 1985, we had 5 riders and 1 pony. Now we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary, and – with the help of 17 horses, two wild mustangs, 5 certified instructors, 3 certified therapists, and 200 volunteers – this year we’ll provide joy and healing to over 400 people with disabilities.”

One area in particular that equine therapy has been shown to be particularly beneficial is in treating PTSD. The new program at CTRH, W.O.R.T.H., pairs military veterans with wild mustangs that have been rescued from captivity. Veterans are taught the skills they need to gentle the wild horses, and some of the horses become program horses in CTRH’s other classes for children with disabilities.

CTRH hopes that the 30th Anniversary Gala, dubbed Ponies and Pearls, will generate enough in funds to continue their work and expand their programs for even more riders. Tickets for the event can be purchased by going on-line or calling CTRH.
