Circadence's Project Ares Prepares SC Cyber's Pro Day Team for Success at Sixth Annual Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition
Cybersecurity Company Elevates Cyber Preparedness with Project Ares Training Platform
BOULDER, Colo. (PRWEB) April 19, 2018
The University of South Carolina’s SC Cyber Competition Team is preparing for the Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition (PCDC)—a three-day event dedicated entirely to cybersecurity training and skills development. This year Circadence® Corporation, a market leader in cybersecurity training and assessments, is pleased to assist SC Cyber’s Pro Team prepare for the PCDC via Project Ares®, an AI-powered, gamified cybersecurity training platform available 24/7.
In addition to eight colleges and eight high schools, the Pro Day competition is held between a combination of industry and Department of Defense (DoD) teams. Teams will be responsible for operating a small network while protecting the infrastructure from attacks, and are scored based on tasks accomplished while maintaining network/service availability and responding to threats.
“With the proliferation of connected technology in today’s workforce, it is more important than ever to help the next generation of cybersecurity experts develop their cyber skills,” said Wes Postol, Senior Director of Federal/DoD Business Development. “We believe in supporting student and professional success at all levels and are happy to provide cybersecurity training support with our Project Ares platform to help the SC Cyber Pro team best prepare for the competition.”
The Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition is hosted by Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic in collaboration with the South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA). The full competition takes place April 14-16 at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, South Carolina, with the Pro Team Day slated for April 16.
“We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to give our team a ‘leg up’ on the competitors by giving them access to the Project Ares platform and the ability to hone their skills using the various tools and missions within the software,” said Tom Scott, SC Cyber Executive Director.
The competition is intended to energize local high schools and colleges to invigorate focused curriculum development for the type of technical skills that are needed in today’s fast paced and challenging cyber environment. Recruiting of some of the top cyber talent in the state is also an active component of the event.
