A special 1-day version of Dade Moeller's popular training course on shipping radioactive material will be hosted by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on October 14.
RICHLAND, Wash. (PRWEB) September 24, 2015
Nationally recognized radiation protection firm Dade Moeller will offer a special one-day version of its popular course, ?DOT, NRC & IATA Requirements for Shipping Radioactive Material? at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on October 14, 2015. The 8-hour class is designed for people responsible for shipping radioactive materials for research, nuclear medicine, specific and broad scope licensees, portable gauges or sources, and decommissioning sites.
The class will train employees in the requirements of the U.S. Department of Transportation as specified by 49 CFR 172 Subpart H, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 10 CFR 71.5. All hazardous materials employees in the United States need to be aware of these regulations for shipping radioactive material. The seminar also will review rules for shipping radioactive materials by air in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements.
The class will run from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center second floor conference room (room 260) at 8701 W. Third Street in Los Angeles. Students will receive a 500-page manual that includes pertinent regulations. Breakfast and snacks will be provided; lunch can be purchased independently at locations on the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center campus. The fee for the course is $395 per student.
Dade Moeller Training Academy regularly holds 12-hour and 2-day versions of this class at its training centers in Gaithersburg, Md., and Las Vegas. The company also offers the class on-site at host locations if there are multiple students needing the training, as is the case with the Los Angeles seminar. In June, the class was hosted by the Stanford University Environment, Health, and Safety department in Palo Alto, Calif.
Interested students can learn more or register for the class on the Dade Moeller website, or by calling the Dade Moeller Training Academy registrar at 1-800-871-7930. Email inquiries may be sent to academyregistrar(at)dademoeller(dot)com. Registration for the class closes on October 5.
