Visual arts include but are not limited to; painting, sculpture, pottery, weaving, drawing, photography, and design. In the series “On Demand”, Rob Lowe introduces a segment that discusses the different types of visual arts taught in both the formal and informal education sectors, and how important they are to children. The episode talks about how technology has transformed visual art from the basics such as hand drawing and sculpting to other forms such as; web designing, photography and designing posters and book covers.

Many experts agree that visual arts are important for children. They provide an opportunity for kids to express themselves, improve a sense of imagination and creativity, build self-confidence, help teach kids the value of team work, improve perseverance and hard work and help children identify their individual abilities which can open paths for future careers. Educating children through visual arts allows them to understand complex issues easily. For children with special needs, education in the visual arts is important because art therapy has been shown to be a useful tool in both expression and communication. It keeps them motivated to learn. Rob Lowe opens the piece that discusses even more reasons why education in the visual arts is important. It also discusses the emerging trends in visual arts education and the impact they have.

The show is expected to raise a lot of awareness on education in the visual arts. It points out different issues in a clear and simple way, and the program has been awarded in the past for it's educational work.
