As part of the Franklin County Visitors Bureau's History Rocks program, a $100 crash prize is being offered for the person who finds and shares the most rocks! This event is just one of many events going on in April for Spring into History!

(PRWEB) April 20, 2018

Franklin County Visitors Bureau is offering a $100 grand prize for the person that finds the most hidden painted rocks as part of Franklin County! Beginning April 21, visitors and locals alike can explore the county looking for rocks hidden all around the scenic county as part of History Rocks.

This program is the newest addition to Spring into History, a month-long opportunity to take in the history of Franklin County. This ramble takes visitors through frontier forts, stops on the Underground Railroad, the sites of Civil War invasions and offers chances to explore genealogy, Native American artifacts and the Franklin County Military Trail of History.

As part of the competition, the person that finds the most hidden painted rocks, marked with #historyrocksfcvb on the bottom wins the grand prize of $100! A second place winner will win $50! Each person must take a photograph of the rock and post to social media. The staff of FCVB will count the numbers on May 1.

Over 200 rocks were painted and hidden in April during paint nights held at Franklin County libraries. These rocks, painted by all ages, are waiting to be found at historical landmarks as well as in Franklin County downtowns and other scenic locations.

Want to hide your own? Make sure to include the hashtag #franklincountyrocksfcvb on the bottom! Other opportunities to paint rocks along with FCVB staff are on Saturday, April 21 at 10:30am-11:30am at Fendrick Library and on Monday, April 23 at 10:30am-11:30am at the Coyle Free Library.

While out searching, keep an eye out for the answers to the History Scavenger Hunt. Not too difficult, the hunt requires only 20 correct answers from a list of 60 clues to win a Spring Into History keepsake, campfire mug before April 30! The form is available online and by picking up a physical form at the Franklin County Visitors Bureau’s office.
