Israel’s largest medical facility, Sheba Medical Center, is creating a cutting-edge neonatal center to protect fragile infants during times of violence and attacks. On April 23, Dr. Tzipora Strauss spoke in Toronto about the hospital’s pioneering efforts to save the lives of these fragile victims during war.

TORONTO (PRWEB) April 26, 2018

Dr. Tzipora Strauss, the Director for Neonatology for Israel’s renowned Sheba Medical Center, spoke in Toronto on Monday at a private community event. Dr. Strauss spoke about the creation of a new neonatal facility to help protect infants during missile attacks and other serious safety threats in Israel.

Sheba Medical Center has become a leader in Israel for using innovative technology in the treatment of complex pregnancies and births, having created a new department dedicated to that mission. However, sudden security threats can put these new mothers and infants in serious danger. This is why Sheba is working to build a new neonatal department that will protect the patients in times of war.

“There are premature babies – some born in 23 to 25 weeks of gestation – that simply cannot be moved,” said Dr. Strauss. “This neonatal center will be a safe, protective shelter for these fragile infants and their families. Even in the worst circumstances of missile attacks and other threats, we can continue to protect and treat them with the most advanced medical care available.”

Sheba Medical Center currently treats more than 10,000 newborns annually. Sheba is the largest and most comprehensive medical center in the Middle East, with six hospitals on one campus.

Warren and Debbie Kimmel hosted this special evening in an effort to raise awareness in the Canadian community about the incredible work of the Sheba medical Center.
