The trend of buying locally grown fruit and vegetables has grown in popularity.

(PRWEB) June 15, 2016

"Behind the Scenes" will delve into the topic of local produce in a new and exciting segment made exclusively for public television. In recent years, consumers have demanded organic and locally-grown produce in an effort to ensure that their families are eating as healthy as possible. This mini-documentary will discuss the trend as well as highlight how local markets are meeting the demand.

Since 2006, numerous local food marketing channels have experienced tremendous growth, according to the USDA. Farmers markets, for example, have grown by 180 percent. Regional food distribution channels have grown by nearly 300 percent. Neither market shows any signs of slowing down. In fact, locally-grown and regionally-distributed produce is becoming the norm rather than the exception.

Hosted by one of America's most distinguished and versatile actors, James Earl Jones, "Behind the Scenes" is an independent project made solely for public television. It is shot in high-definition by an award-winning team of writers, producers, and videographers. The documentary does not represent APT or PBS and is not produced by those entities.
