KALAMAZOO, Michigan (PRWEB) April 17, 2018
A Dental Radiography course is being offered in May at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Classes will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 18, 19, and 25 and from 8 to 11 a.m. on May 26 in the Dental Hygiene Clinic at the Texas Township Campus.
Dental radiographs are essential in the diagnosis of dental malformations and diseases. Taking high quality radiographs can help ensure an accurate and timely diagnosis. As new techniques are developed, the dental practitioner must remain well-informed of new techniques and capable of performing radiographic procedures proficiently. This course is designed to help prepare dental assistants on the basic principles and current techniques of dental radiography.
Course content includes:
- Radiation history, biology and safety
- Dental x-ray equipment
- Film types and processing
- Darkroom errors and common technique errors
- Anatomical landmarks
- Intraoral and panoramic radiographic techniques
The 22-hour course is approved by the State of Michigan Department of Community Health. The course also complies with the Michigan Practice Act that states Dental Assistants must take radiographs under general supervision if they have completed a course in dental radiography that is substantially equivalent to courses taught in approved RDA or RDH programs. The course is coordinated in partnership with Kalamazoo Valley’s Groves Center and the Dental Hygiene Department. There is a course fee of $575.
