BOSTON (PRWEB) April 26, 2018

Kapsul, a premium home climate brand, unveiled its D Series dehumidifier onstage today at Demo Day for Techstars Boston. The Series D takes Kapsul, a Techstars 2018 company, from air conditioning alone into the new product category for humidity control.

Kurt Swanson, founder and CEO of Kapsul, says the company believes humidity is an important product category for consumers. “Our customers really care about the home environment and want the best possible experience from products that manage their home climate. We always knew our product roadmap led from air conditioning to humidity control, and so we started designing our dehumidifier as soon as we completed design on the W5 air conditioner,” Swanson says.

Kapsul’s first product, the W5 5,000 BTU connected window air conditioner launched on Kickstarter. The W5 was a top-10 hardware crowdfunding success, which allowed the company to finish design and engineering, and secure a manufacturing partner. The W5 is shipping in April 2019, with a larger W8 8,000 BTU version coming in 2020.

The Kapsul D Series dehumidifier has several patents pending and is a radical departure from the current approach to dehumidification. Onboard sensors that monitor temperature and humidity can alert users if there is flooding near the unit. Other novel features include a top-loading water container, a visible fill level, and a built-in handle that makes it easy to pick up and empty. It comes in 50 and 70-pint dehumidifier versions, which will be available for pre-sale in 2018.

All Kapsul products are connected to web services and compatible with popular smart home ecosystems like Works with Nest, Alexa and Google Home. All carry onboard temperature, humidity, energy usage, and ambient light sensors. Get more information, photos, and pre-sale information online: https://www.kapsulair.com/press-area
