Kids in the Klinic Golf Classic at The Olympic Club to Support Oral Health for Underserved Children

Tickets now on sale for public to play in Oct. 26 event organized by University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry

Bay Area golfers have a unique opportunity to play one of the nation's premier golf courses while raising money for a good cause. Tickets are now on sale for the 18th Annual Kids in the Klinic Golf Classic to be held Monday, October 26, 2015 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Kids in the Klinic Endowment, which helps provide oral healthcare for underserved children from throughout Northern California. Care is provided at the Hutto Patterson Pediatric Dentistry Clinic and Redmond Family Orthodontic Clinic located at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry's campus in San Francisco.

Participants will have the opportunity to play 18 holes on either the Lake Course or the Ocean Course at The Olympic Club, site of the 2012 U.S. Open and numerous other championship events. Registration includes tee prize, golf cart, on-course food and a cocktail reception with entertainment. The event will also feature a silent auction and raffle. Individual ticket prices for the day per player start at $425.

"Each year this event gets bigger and better and this year will be no exception," said local dentist and event chair Dr. Doug Yarris, a 1983 alumnus of the school and a well-known area golfer who played at both Stanford and Napa Valley College. "You'll have fun, meet some great people, support a worthwhile cause and maybe even win some prizes!"

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, tooth decay is the most common chronic infectious disease affecting children in the United States. Despite being largely preventable, tooth decay still affects 42 percent of children aged 2 to 11 years in the United States, and children with poor oral health are nearly three times more likely to miss school as a result of dental pain. Many of these children not only lack access to affordable oral health care, but also face challenges of mental or physical disabilities. The Kids in the Klinic Endowment aims to address oral health care access issues by enabling the school's clinics to provide care for all children in the region, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
