Union employee drops case after retracting claims of sexual favoritism and retaliatory firing

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) April 22, 2018

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 44 labor organization, which represents theatrical workers, has announced the dismissal of a lawsuit against the union and one of its members after the plaintiff retracted claims of inappropriate sexual relationships that allegedly resulted in favoritism and retaliatory firing. The Superior Court of the State of California granted the request for dismissal after Martha Quiroz, a former employee of Local 44, dropped her claims against the union and its Corresponding Secretary, Anthony Pawluc. After both parties exchanged evidence, it was determined that the claims were unsubstantiated, and Ms. Quiroz elected to retract her claims and dismiss the suit.

“We feel that the lawsuit was frivolous to begin with, and we have denied these allegations from the moment they were raised; further, we have vigorously fought to clear the union and myself in this matter,” said Pawluc. “In retracting her claims and dismissing her complaint, Ms. Quiroz has validated our position that we were wrongfully accused and that Ms. Quiroz never had any actual evidence to back up her claims. We are pleased that we can put this behind us, and focus on the work we do to support and advocate for our members in Hollywood, California.”

The lawsuit was originally filed on December 19, 2016, and was dismissed on October 5, 2017.
