Cybersecurity Analytics Product Innovation Operationalizes Threat Intelligence

Somerset, NJ (PRWEB) October 27, 2015

Lumeta Corporation, the leader in network situational awareness, was selected as a finalist at the Innovation Framework for Privacy and Cyber Security Market Opportunities (IPACSO) European Cyber Security & Privacy Innovation Awards. With these Awards, the IPACSO consortium, supported by the European Commission, recognizes privacy and cyber security innovators in Europe. The awards ceremony took place October 22nd in Brussels, Belgium.

A finalist in the Cyber Security Product category, the Lumeta Cyber Threat Probe is a cybersecurity analytics plugin included with the Lumeta IPsonar network situational awareness platform. It enables organizations to operationalize threat intelligence by utilizing existing capabilities of IPsonar to correlate a comprehensive index of an enterprise’s IP address space against known threats. As soon as new threat intelligence becomes available, IPsonar will report against the new threats and send out notifications. IT professionals can use the Cyber Threat Probe for the following use cases:

  •     Zombie Hunting (Identification of Botnet/C2 Infrastructure Internally) – Determine whether or not any trusted enterprise assets are malware infected infrastructure (participating in command and control botnet) or part of blacklists/Dropnets/Shadowserver/attacker lists.
  •     Validation of No Access to Known Malware C2 Servers – Determine whether or not active security controls prevent malware callback and data exfiltration to known botnet/C2 networks and servers.
  •     Validation of No Access to Known TOR Exit Nodes – Determine whether or not active security controls prevent call back to TOR (The Onion Router/Dark Web Infrastructure) exit nodes.
  •     Identification of Internal TOR Relays/Bridges – Determine if any trusted/enterprise assets are, or were, acting as TOR relays/ bridges potentially for nefarious purposes.

IPACSO is a joint project by industry and research partners, aimed at supporting privacy and cyber security innovations in Europe. One of the main results of the IPACSO project is a framework for innovation development, specifically aimed at cyber security & privacy innovators.

The European Cyber Security & Privacy Innovation Awards winners and finalists were selected out of a group of 100 nominees from 11 countries, including spin-off companies resulting from academic research, new start-ups, existing security and privacy entrepreneurs with new products and services, and ICT and Telcos with innovative security offerings.

“We’re honored to be included among these innovative organizations,” said Pat Donnellan, chief executive officer of Lumeta. “Lumeta will continue our work to enhance the Cyber Threat Probe as new threat intelligence sources become available, and couple it with comprehensive network indexing and network segmentation validation. We’re committed to help Europe protect its networks, critical infrastructures and citizen’s privacy.”
