Magna Legal Services? Third Annual ?Chopped? Competition Doubles Donation for The Children?s Hospital of Philadelphia
Four top attorneys to battle in mock trial competition in Atlantic City as part of entertaining CLE program
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) September 24, 2015
Magna Legal Services is returning to Atlantic City with their successful ?CHOPPED? mock trial competition as part of the firm?s 8th annual "Streamlining Relationships with Outside Counsel" CLE course event. Taking place November 11th and 12th at the Borgata Hotel & Casino, four top trial attorneys will once again battle it out in a mock trial setting, presenting their best argument to a panel of judges.
Doubling the amount to be donated from previous years, the attorneys will compete to win up to $10,000.00 in donations made in their firm's name to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Consisting of claims executives and in-house counsel from Fortune 500 companies, the judges will provide feedback on the effectiveness of the presentations, and after each phase of the trial they will vote and "chop" a lawyer from the competition, leaving one ultimate champion.
"After two years of successful competition, we knew that for this third iteration of ?CHOPPED? we needed to kick things up a notch,? said Peter Hecht, Magna's Executive Vice President of Business Development. ?Along with the value of the daily CLE courses, and the entertainment factor of the competition, it is a heartwarming honor to know this is being done in the name of raising money for the deserving kids at CHOP."
?Speaking for everyone at Children?s Hospital, we are grateful for your dedication and devotion to our shared cause, helping those children who need it most,? said Maureen Mason, Director of Event Fundraising and Community Partnerships at CHOP. ?Through this funding, you are helping to make a difference to our children and their families every day.?
This year, Ted Schaer of Zarwin, Baum, DeVito, Kaplan, Schaer & Toddy PC returns to defend his title streak after winning the judges' votes in the first and second Magna CHOPPED competition. Ted?s competitors this year include; Dana Fox of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, Jeffrey Diamond of J. Diamond and Associates, PLLC, and Robert L. Shannon, Jr. of Hall, Booth, Smith, P.C. (and a Major General in the Air National Guard).
"Not many CLE events can pack in the suspense, drama, laughs and education that Magna delivers during ?CHOPPED,? added Hecht. ?Our education chair, Richard Fabian, Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Director of Litigation at The RiverStone Companies will be devising a challenging fact pattern with unexpected twists at each phase, and I?m looking forward to seeing how this year?s group of legal industry professionals compete and put on a show."
