Leighton got involved after attending the annual Go Red for Women® luncheon in 2016.

“My grandmother had open heart surgery and my mom has heart disease, so this cause is very personal,” said Leighton. “I want learn what I need to do to mitigate my risk and help educate other women about the importance of heart health.”

Manchester Financial was also a local sponsor for this year’s luncheon.

“Financial wellness is one piece of your overall wellness,” said Robert Katch, president of Manchester Financial. “Supporting other wellness initiatives is extremely important to us."

“We’re proud to give back to our community,” said Alan Hopkins, Chief Economic Strategist of Manchester Financial. “Jennifer’s involvement and passion for raising awareness is infectious.”

Leighton recently helped organize a fundraiser that included a fashion show and brunch, which raised more than $10,000. Upcoming events include a fundraiser in August and the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk in September. Her team is currently planning and raising funds for the 2019 luncheon.
