Inaugural event focuses on serving the needs of LGBTQ treatment community

Palm Springs, CA (PRWEB) October 23, 2015

Michael’s House, a leading treatment provider in Southern California, is proud to announce the Finding Freedom Symposium, which brings forward relevant information and best treatment practices in supporting the LGBTQ community with co-occurring disorders. This groundbreaking event will take place January 15-16, 2016 at the Riviera Resort in Palm Springs, CA and is the first symposium of its kind to look specifically at LGBTQ as it relates to addiction and recovery.

Finding Freedom will feature presentations by dynamic leaders in the field of LGBTQ addiction treatment including Alan Downs, PhD, Lauren Costine, PhD, Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, and others who will spark the conversation. The integrative workgroup sessions will address transgender issues, creating an LGBTQ affirmative workplace, building ongoing community support following treatment, and food disorders. These integrative sessions will also create an ongoing collaborative workgroup to further research in best treatment practices in supporting the LGBTQ population that struggles with co-occurring disorders.

The conference is open to the community, treatment professionals, doctors, therapists and anyone who is interested in the unique issues facing sexual identity and co-occurring disorders treatment. For more information please visit the event website: http://www.LGBTQSymposium.com
