Programs Covered a Wide Variety of Topics for Students in Elementary School Through College
Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 08, 2015
Students from more than 145 countries joined together for more than a dozen career exploration and leadership development programs. Held at top U.S. universities and in cities around the world, Envision summer programs focused on college preparation and career readiness in such fields as medicine, law, national security, business, STEM, and working in today's global community.
Students attending Envision summer "career camps" had unprecedented access to the best and brightest in their fields of interest. They gained hands-on experience with medical procedures, followed a legal proceeding from crime scene to courtroom, worked with Nigerian business owners to come up with solutions to a real-world issue, scripted and shot a short film, programmed a micro-processor to fly a model helicopter, and much more.
Envision summer students also heard from such luminaries as Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African American woman in space; Erin Gruell, founder of the Freedom Writers Foundations; Alli Webb, founder of Drybar and one of Fortune's "40 Under 40"; and Dr. Tan-Sik Wong, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State and an MIT Technology Review Top Young Innovator.
High School students also got an early taste of college life as they stayed on the campuses of some of the most renowned universities in the United States.
Some students chose to take part in Envision's international programs, visiting Germany, Vienna, Australia, South Africa, or China to learn about international business and how to be a responsible global leader and citizen in today's rapidly changing world.
"Thank you Envision for granting me the opportunity to spend this past week in DC at the National Young Leaders Conference (NYLC)! It was a great experience for all of us, and I feel so lucky to have made connections from all over the US! I encourage all parents and students to get more information about Envision's NYLC, because it really was a memorable experience." - National Young Leaders Conference Student
"I had finally found a place that I felt at home. At NYLF, I was a part of something and I was able to be myself in the process. To me that means everything." - National Youth Leadership Forum: Explore STEM Student
