HARRISBURG, Pa. (PRWEB) March 29, 2018
The Governor’s Center for Local Government Services (GCLGS) announced the launch of the Pennsylvania Municipal Internship Program (PA MIP). The program, which was developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Municipal League (PML), will benefit municipalities by providing them with skilled, knowledgeable college students that can address vital projects. PA MIP provides an opportunity for college-level interns from across Pennsylvania to actively engage in handling municipal operations, projects and decision-making, thereby preparing them for a career in municipal government.
PA MIP serves all municipalities within Pennsylvania, providing resources for municipalities to address essential projects. Special consideration will be given to Act 47 and Early Intervention Program communities.
To participate in the program, municipalities must first register with PA MIP at https://www.pamip.org/municipality-registration. Once a municipality has registered to participate in the program, they can submit municipal internship opportunities that are available. The internship opportunities will be publicized on the PA MIP website, social media, online internship job postings and through participating educational institution’s internship offices.
The Pennsylvania Municipal Internship Program connects college students with municipalities through on-the-job training to prepare students for a career in municipal government. A collaboration of the Pennsylvania Municipal League and the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services, PA MIP provides interns with valuable experience that benefits municipalities by having additional resources to tackle vital projects.
