Fifteenth Annual Event Attracts 130+ Students

CLEVELAND (PRWEB) April 18, 2018

OEConnection LLC (OEC), a leading technology employer in Northeast Ohio, sponsored the 15th annual High School Programming Contest on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. OEC was excited to welcome a record number of participating high school teams and students to compete in solving the most computer programming problems in the shortest amount of time. Thirty-four teams totaling 130 students from a record 23 high schools across Northeast Ohio and as far as Columbus, joined in the competition.

This year’s winning team was from University School. Baldwin Wallace students from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) chapter managed the event, including creating the problems and solutions, updating the scoreboard, managing the judging system and awarding the prize to the winning team.

“It’s rewarding to see students from all around Northeast Ohio share a common interest in computer programming and be able to see their minds at work during this contest,” Susan Penko, competition co-organizer and Baldwin Wallace University computer science professor, said. “The support we receive from OEC for this event every year is greatly appreciated. OEC recognizes the importance of developing student interest in computer programming.”

“We value the educational partnership we have developed with Baldwin Wallace University, and are fully committed to helping to promote Northeast Ohio as a technology hub. This is an event we look forward to each year,” said Amy French, OEC Executive Vice President of Human Resources. “Skilled software developers are in high demand and this contest gives students a chance to explore new ideas and learn more about the technology field, which we hope sparks a lifelong interest for them.”

OEC has been the corporate sponsor of the annual Baldwin Wallace University High School Programming Competition since 2007.
