OEC was recognized for its support of the Northeast Ohio technology community during the 12th annual OHTec Best of Tech Awards.

CLEVELAND (PRWEB) April 20, 2018

OEConnection LLC (OEC), a leading technology employer in Northeast Ohio, was recognized for its work in supporting the technology community during the 12th Annual Best of Tech Awards ceremony in downtown Cleveland. Established by OHTec and the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), the Best of Tech Awards recognize innovative companies and products in the region. The Best of Tech Awards is part of OHTec’s Tech Week, a series of events, panels and forums aimed at promoting and advocating for technology companies in Ohio. For the third year in a row, OEC was presenting sponsor of Tech Week, this year co-sponsoring with MCPc.

OEC was awarded the “Best Support of the Tech Community” award for the company’s community-focused initiatives, promoting NEO tech through media channels, and encouraging women, minorities and students to pursue a career in technology. OEC is sponsoring the development of the NEO Tech Ecosystem, which, when introduced, will provide a quick resource guide for tech companies to help grow their businesses.

For the past two years, OEC has been the sponsor of the “Tech Matters” column in Crain’s Cleveland Business, which focuses each month on a tech-related issue impacting Northeast Ohio companies.

OEC is involved throughout the year in events for students, including the Goodyear STEM events held in Akron, sponsoring week-long summer coding camps (including a girls-only camp) for high school students, and the Baldwin Wallace High School Programming Contest. In 2017, OEC partnered with organizations such as We Can Code IT, Tech Elevator, Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWic), Women Who Code and The National Black MBA Association to promote inclusion in tech disciplines.

Several members of the OEC leadership team serve as board members for various academic and non-profit tech organizations throughout the region.

Additionally, OEC enjoys an educational partnership with Baldwin Wallace University and each year, works with the university on technology R&D to provide students with real-life scenarios using patented technology.

“This is a recognition we are very proud to receive,” said Amy French, Executive Vice President, Human Resources. “Supporting the tech community in Northeast Ohio is a priority for OEC. We’re not just in this for the short-term. Northeast Ohio is our home and we support our thriving tech community whenever possible. We will continue our efforts to cultivate an interest in tech careers at all levels, and support educational programs and organizations for developing tech talent.”

“OEC is playing a major role in growing the tech industry in Northeast Ohio,” said Steve Millard, Executive Vice President, Greater Cleveland Partnership. “The work OEC is doing will benefit all tech organizations in the region by helping to create a pool of qualified and diverse tech workers, which is a gap we need filled. We congratulate OEC for their continued efforts.”
