A Philadelphia original, the cheese steak sandwich was invented sometime in the 1930s, according to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Lee's Hoagie House got its start in 1953 in a small shop in Philadelphia's beautiful Mt. Airy neighborhood. Serving a wide range of high-quality hoagies, cheesesteaks, and other Philadelphia-area favorites, the company began expanding starting in 1977 with a new regional franchising program.
