The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM), the authority on retail, multi-site facilities management has released a special series of white papers to help Retail Facilities Management Professionals determine the true cost of equipment and assets, including HVAC, Roof Portfolios, Flooring and Lighting, by evaluating the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
PRSM developed this four-part series to help facilities executives determine the direct and indirect costs of a product or system by using TCO calculations. TCO calculations include the purchase price of an asset plus the costs of installation, operation, maintenance and service/repairs through its useful-life. The series includes:
- HVAC: Considerations for Total Cost of Ownership
- Roof Portfolios: Considerations for Total Cost of Ownership
- Flooring: Considerations for Total Cost of Ownership
- Lighting: Considerations for Total Cost of Ownership
“This white paper series exemplifies how PRSM prepares Retail Facilities Professionals to make educated decisions and proactively create accurate budgets,” said Bill Yanek, PRSM CEO. “PRSM Resources build upon the basic knowledge needed in facilities management. This series is a stepping stone to develop more accurate budgets for different facilities management programs.”
PRSM has also developed other industry resources to expand the knowledge of Retail Facilities Managers. PRSM’s Resources Center provides management tools exclusively for the Retail Facilities Manager and supplier community. Resources include: white papers on leading industry issues; the annual Best Practices Book that covers a wide spectrum of FM industry trades; and the Retail Facilities Benchmarking program. Other resources such as industry research-based Trends Reports, the Buyer’s Guide (print and online), the association’s bi-monthly magazine, Retail Store Maintenance (print and electronic), and PRSM Weekly (a retail news-focused e-newsletter) keep Retail Facilities Managers up to date on breaking trends and industry issues.
