Reckon by AL.com Presents: Alabama’s 2018 Gubernatorial Debates Live From the Lyric in Birmingham

Alabama Media Group is announcing that Reckon by AL.com will host two gubernatorial debates live in Birmingham at the historic Lyric Theatre.

Reckon, an AL.com brand focused on community conversations and in-depth journalism, will host and stream the 2018 Alabama Gubernatorial debates. Debates are open to the public and media, and available to watch via Facebook Live on Reckon by AL.com and on television on ABC 33/40. ABC 33/40 will provide a pool camera for media use.

• The Republican debate will take place April 18 at 7 p.m. and panelists will include ABC 33/40’s Lauren Walsh, Reckon’s John Archibald and Cameron Smith of the R Street Institute. Free tickets are available via Eventbrite.
• The Democratic debate will be held April 24 at 7 p.m. and panelists will include Walsh, Smith and Reckon’s Kyle Whitmire.Free tickets are available via Eventbrite.

Each event will last approximately two hours and will be hosted by AL.com columnist and Director of Content Development, Roy Johnson.

Each of the gubernatorial candidates have been invited and will have a lectern on stage. The candidates will each receive 90 seconds for opening statements, followed by a question and answer section. In addition to the questions written and asked by the three panelists, Reckon is soliciting questions from readers.
