SKSpruce Technologies Introduces Next Gen Carrier Wi-Fi Solution
Highly Scalable, Fully Integrated Solution Integral to Mobile Operator’s Future 4G LTE Network Debuted by New Company President at HetNet Expo, October 27-28 in Los Angeles, CA
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 27, 2015
SKSpruce Technologies, an emerging leader in carrier-class Wi-Fi with proven solutions implemented worldwide, introduces its SKG10000 mobile operator solution today at HetNet Expo, in Los Angeles, California. The solution enables carriers and commercial operators to cost effectively deploy and manage Wi-Fi as an important tool in enhancing coverage and capacity to deliver the highest quality user experience.
The explosion in mobile data usage requires operators to address enormous peaks in usage, typically concentrated in dense urban areas and at different times of day. Other challenges include shadowing effects and blind spots in these areas, as well as the increasing difficulty of penetrating into buildings with the level of bandwidth and performance necessary to deliver a high level of user satisfaction.
“Wi-Fi is an important new tool for today’s mobile operators, and will constitute an integral part of their future 4G network,” says Tetsuzo (Ted) Matsumoto, CEO of Japan Link Corporation, and senior advisor to SoftBank Group. “Extension of coverage and the increased capacity offered by Wi-Fi backhauled by either optical fiber or 4G LTE is the most cost-effective way to solve network challenges today.”
The SKSpruce solution includes the SKG10000 multi-service gateway, a full range of access points, a centralized wireless network management system, a services controller for managing users and billing, and an integrated services manager that can help operators monetize subscribers and users. Cost effective and scalable, the complete solution supports more than 120,000 access points and more than 1.3 million subscribers within a single chassis and is believed to be the first solution in the world to combine all functions.
The solution delivers five times the capacity with a 50% reduction in capital expense when compared to solutions by leading competitors. It also uses 80% less power and occupies 80% less space in the network operations center than other solutions.
New president, Steven Toteda joined SKSpruce Technologies, Inc. in August and leads the commercial activities from the company’s San Jose, office. The company was founded in 2011 by an entrepreneurial leadership team of Silicon Valley wireless and networking experts with years of collective experience at leading firms like Bell Labs, Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Motorola and Aruba.
“Our mobile operator Wi-Fi solution delivers greater broadband coverage at consistently high data rates and integrates seamlessly into the core mobile network at a fraction of the cost of traditional cellular equipment,” says SKSpruce Technologies President, Toteda. “Millions of global users are already taking advantage of SKSpruce-managed Wi-Fi connections every day, enjoying the highest quality of user experience available.”
The SKSpruce Wi-Fi solution is currently being used in Japan by the largest integrated Wi Fi/cellular system in the world, deployed by SoftBank, with approximately 500,000 access points seamlessly integrated into their market-leading 4G LTE network.
Toteda will lead a panel of wireless experts in a HetNet discussion titled: “Can HetNets make a Smart City Smarter?” at the Millennium Biltmore on Wednesday, October 28th, at 1:45 p.m.
SKSpruce will showcase its solutions at Booth #106, including the SKG10000 Multi-service Gateway, that functions as a high performance router, switch, WLAN gateway, and access point controller and integrates seamlessly into the core mobile network, allowing network operators to leverage Wi-Fi to cost‑effectively expand the coverage and capacity of 3G/4G networks in dense urban areas, such as transit centers, campuses, and retail malls.
Toteda, a 30-year wireless industry pioneer, was formerly with Eaton, where he was vice president and general manager of wireless solutions. Prior, Toteda held leadership positions with Dust Networks, a leader in the development of the technologies that serve as the foundation for Internet of Things (IoT), Alaris Communications, an early entrant in the then nascent market for low power cellular “small cell” solutions and Cisco Systems, where he led the effort to develop voice over Internet protocol telephony systems, and launched Cisco’s first Wi-Fi handset as well as pioneered the concept of Cellular to Wi-Fi roaming through a partnership with Motorola.
SKSpruce Technologies Inc. delivers market leading carrier-grade Wi-Fi solutions that enable carriers and commercial operators to deliver the highest quality user experience. With deep expertise in wireless networking and a culture of innovation, SKSpruce products deliver unmatched scalability and flexible deployment architectures that enable customers to adapt to the rapidly growing bandwidth demands of a mobile world.
