The Heart Course: Emergency Cardiology for Front Line Providers, a 4 day live Continuing Medical Education (CME) meeting, will be held November 12-15, 2015 at the Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The live CME meeting offers an opportunity for providers to discuss emerging data, new guidelines, and optimal treatment strategies for the management of cardiac and vascular emergencies. In addition, they will learn to apply cutting edge, state-of-the-art cardiovascular diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic modalities; and improve their current practice.

Emergency physicians, advanced practice nurses, cardiologists, physician assistants, internists, hospitalists, intensivists, primary care physicians and paramedics who provide care to patients with acute cardiovascular problems are invited to attend this live CME meeting. Practitioners may earn up to 19.50 hours of participation for continuing medical education.

The faculty members for the live CME meeting, who will present and help guide discussions, are: Dr. J. Stephen Bohan (Harvard Medical School), Dr. Peter S. Pang (Indiana University School of Medicine), Dr. Amer Z. Aldeen (Emergency Medicine Physicians, LTD.) Dr. Laura J. Bontempo (University of Maryland School of Medicine), Dr. Megan Fix (University of Utah School of Medicine), Dr. Amal Mattu (University of Maryland School of Medicine), and Dr. Frances M. Russell (Indiana University School of Medicine)

At the conclusion of this live CME meeting, participants will demonstrate effective management of cardiovascular emergencies including:

•     Identify optimum treatment strategies and anti-platelet/anticoagulant therapies for patients with acute coronary syndrome (STEMI and UA/NSTEMI)
•     Describe 'can't miss findings' on ECG
•     Understand emerging and guideline recommended management of the atrial fibrillation patient
•     Review emerging heart failure management strategies including diagnosis, classification, risk-stratification, prognosis, and optimization of volume status
•     Understand and apply optimal management strategies for the treatment of stroke and VTE; and
•     Describe the mechanisms of action and optimal evidence based use of new oral anticoagulants (NOAC) therapy
