Team Diva Q Takes First Place Among International Entries, Across The Track Cook-Off Team Named Overall Cook’s Choice

Salt Lake City (PRWEB) October 28, 2015

The wood-fired revolution continues to gain national recognition with multiple teams winning top honors on “stock” Traeger Grills at this year’s 27th Annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue held over the weekend in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Team Diva Q led by celebrity chef Danielle Bennett earned a perfect score in the dessert competition and Top International Team in ribs while Houston-based Across The Track Cook-Off Team brought home the competition’s Cook’s Choice honors.

This marked the fourth year that Danielle “Diva Q” Bennett, host of the Travel Channel’s hit show BBQ Crawl, was invited to captain a team in the prestigious competition. This year’s field included a record number of entries with a truly global flavor including teams from Australia, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Poland and South Africa.

“Going to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbeque competition is amazing. Going and coming away with a perfect score in the dessert category and top international team in ribs is outstanding. Both of these were done on my Traeger grills. I really believe that shows how incredibly versatile their wood-fired grills are, when you can go from ribs to something delicate like whiskey caramel cheesecake,” said Bennett.

Across The Track Cook-Off Team led by captain Kerry Fellows and head cook Doug Scheiding claimed one of the competitions’ most sought-after awards by winning the Cook’s Choice category with 96 world-class caliber teams in attendance. Owing much of this award to the much-guarded secret recipes and barbecue techniques passed down from their relatives, Fellows and Scheiding choose to compete on Traeger Grills given their unparalleled versatility and precision control. Across The Track Cook-Off Team is a two-time winner of the Houston Rodeo World BBQ Championship, winning that event this past February while cooking on a Traeger.

The Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue is one of the most elite BBQ competitions in all the world with over ninety teams convening this year in hopes of bringing home the coveted title of Grand Champion across seven categories. To earn an invitation, teams must have previously won a state championship or win one of the other premiere barbecue competitions such as Memphis in May, American Royal Open or Houston World’s Championship Bar-B-Que.
