Session Introduces a New “Patient-Ready” Approach to High Reliability

CHARLESTON, S.C. (PRWEB) April 17, 2018

Verge Health, the industry’s leading risk management software company for hospitals and health systems, today announced that Inge Garrison RN, MSN, the company’s chief nursing officer, presented a session, The Transformation from Survey-Ready to Patient-Ready, at AONE 2018. AONE (American Organization of Nurse Executives) holds its annual meeting to offer educational courses, social events and networking opportunities for nurses across the country.

The presentation was scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 12:30 P.M. to 12:50 P.M. In the session, Garrison spoke about the need for hospitals to transition away from typical “survey-readiness” processes to focus on the more impactful, innovative process of becoming “patient-ready.”

“When it comes to compliance, hospitals have traditionally focused primarily on passing regulatory agency audits,” says Garrison. “Yet this approach does little to promote enterprise-wide high reliability strategies to ensure issues are not only addressed, but that they remain addressed. Instead, it divides the responsibility for patient safety between various departments, which reduces visibility and leads to an incomplete view of the full state of patient safety across the organization.”

The session covered how to implement a “patient-ready” strategy that ensures that from the moment a patient arrives, every system works correctly to ensure outstanding clinical care, impeccable service delivery, and a safe clinical encounter. Attendees learned how to:

  • Define the meaning and effect of patient-ready
  • Identify cultural changes that can take your organization from survey-ready to patient-ready
  • Understand the organizational impact of being patient ready

Verge will be presenting a webinar on becoming “patient-ready” sharing the information from AONE on Tuesday, May 8th at noon EST. For more information please visit https://www.vergehealth.com.
