Wedgewood LLC CEO Rudy Trebels Releases Statement on the Passing of Philanthropist and Financier Gregory Burt
Philanthropist and financier Gregory Ward Burt and his wife, Suzie Glazer Burt, have funded a new Boys and Girls Club, currently under construction on the Drake University campus in Des Moines, Iowa.

Wedgewood LLC CEO Rudy Trebels issued the following statement regarding the passing of his friend Iowa philanthropist and financier Gregory Ward Burt who passed away earlier this year:
“I and the entire Trebels family have sent our prayers to the Burt family and are deeply saddened for them at this time of great loss occasioned by the passing of Greg Burt,” said Trebels, who serves on the Drake University Board of Trustees and is chairman of the board’s Buildings and Grounds committee. “Greg and his wife Suzie have been dear friends and major benefactors to Drake University. Suzie is the daughter of Maddie Levitt, a longtime Drake University supporter and advocate, and Suzie has continued that legacy. Suzie and Greg most recently made capital bequest to fund a new Boys and Girls Club to be co-located on the University campus.”
The new Gregory and Suzie Glazer Burt Boys and Girls Club will be a permanent base for at-risk children as they move through school in Des Moines. The club plans to open next year, in 2019.
Added Trebels: “The club’s placement on the Drake Campus itself will surely draw to it the supplemental resources and enthusiastic collaboration of the university’s own students and education faculties. It will stand as an enduring memorial to Greg and to a beloved family that has improved the lives of thousands of children and has always put education, athletics and the children of Iowa first through many decades of thoughtful and consequential community philanthropy.”
